START WITH THE CLUES
You do not need
to know its name.
The room, timing and surrounding signs often tell us more than one blurred photograph.
Where did you notice it?
A bed or sofa, a kitchen cupboard, stored fabric and a roofline each give the inspection a different starting point. Note when it began, whether it repeats and whether anything crawls, jumps, flies or makes a sound.

BEDROOM & SEATING
Look at the room, not just the skin.
Describe insects, shed material or repeated marks on accessible furniture. Skin marks alone cannot establish a pest or a medical diagnosis. Seek appropriate healthcare advice for worrying symptoms.
Bed-bug guidanceWALLS, FLOORS & ROOFS
Record the time and location.
Noise alone does not identify an animal. Note repeated sounds or visible routes from a safe position. Keep out of unsafe lofts and do not seal an opening that may be occupied.
Rodent and entry-route guidanceKITCHENS & STORAGE
The surroundings matter.
Tell us whether the activity is near food, water, an appliance, clothing or bedding. Note approximate size and movement without approaching a stinging insect.
Do not handle droppings, dismantle appliances or touch damaged wiring to investigate.

YOUR NEXT STEP
